Hi, I'm Lauren!
Dietitian
& Cupcake Queen
Lauren completed her Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics at Flinders University in 2017 and is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian. She joined the Life Skills Hub team in early 2023, bringing with her a wealth of clinical experience from her work in private practice, public hospitals, and the aged care sector.

A self-proclaimed foodie at heart, Lauren has a passion for food literacy, cooking, menu planning and budgeting, recipe development, food safety, and safe eating practices. She loves working with young people to explore new foods and recipes, helping them expand their food repertoire and better their relationships with food. She has a particular interest in managing malnutrition, food allergies, and intolerances and enjoys educating people on how to eat affordably without compromising on quality and taste. Lauren believes that the best way to learn about food and nutrition is to get involved in the kitchen and a hands-on approach is central to her dietetic practice.

Through her training and experience at Life Skills Hub, Lauren has recognised the importance of tailored feeding therapy approaches to support young people in meeting their nutritional needs. Understanding that there is no one-size-fits-all solution, Lauren creatively designs her sessions to engage her clients by incorporating their interests. Whether it's making food jewellery, crafting edible paint, or baking Minecraft cookies, she ensures a safe, fun and inviting space to learn and explore the wonders of food.

Outside of work, it is no surprise that you will often find Lauren cooking up a storm in her kitchen, known to be an avid baker and lover of all sweet things. She also enjoys a long weekend walk on the beach, sweating it out at reformer Pilates, catching up with family and friends and isn’t a stranger to some reality TV.

What made you want to become a Dietitian?
I always had a passion for food and nutrition growing up, having some of my own struggles with health, allergies and therapeutic diets. I also always loved the idea of teaching and enjoy helping people to better themselves and the community. The best way to combine these two careers was to study dietetics and become a dietitian!

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
Dog – everyone loves them, you get pats all day long and can always give and receive unconditional love.

What is the most interesting place you have been?
I have been fortunate enough to travel to many places across the world, however the most interesting would have to have been Las Vegas in the USA. The fact that you can take a gondola ride in Venice on one end of the strip and be in Egypt exploring King Tut’s tomb on the other was surreal…all in the middle of the desert mind you!

What is your go-to karaoke song?
Dancing Queen!

Do you have any fun or unique talents?
I am renowned for making anything gluten free taste good, have hypermobile thumbs and can sleep through just about anything (including a break in!).
