Hi, I'm Madelyn!

Allied Health Assistant & Mentor

Maddy is a passionate and friendly allied health assistant and mentor. She is always trying to inspire and develop young people’s skills and achieve goals set in place to help strive to be the best versions of themselves that they can be.

Maddy has had 4 years of experience in the Childcare environment and Sporting environment where she has facilitated sporting programs for children and young people to excel in their interest/newfound hobbies and be a part of team community. Maddy’s work in these types of settings has exposed her to a wide range of children and families, each with unique challenges, from speech and sensory issues, ADHD, Autism and processing disorders.

Maddy enjoys dancing to music whenever she can, riding motorbikes in the summertime, baking cookies and going to the beach or hanging out with her friends. Maddy loves spontaneous adventures but away from these adventures, she plays semi-professional basketball. 9 times out of 10 you will see Maddy around with a big smile on her face and will always hear her giggling or laughing.

Maddy has special interest or skills in:

  • Building confidence and self-esteem to promote interpersonal skills in public settings

  • Supporting clients to engage in social groups and build connections with others

  • Emotional regulation strategies

  • Sports and fitness

  • Fostering a safe and comfortable environment for young people to excel in their given interest.

  • Music of any kind

  • Basketball

What made you want to become a Mentor?

As a young girl, I always wanted to work in the Allied Health field of some sort but after supporting children in childcare and sporting programs, I knew that I wanted to support young people beyond that and continue to improve the development and skills of one person at a time. This inspired me to become an AHA and have ambitions to study Occupational Therapy in the future.

Can you describe your approach to supporting young people?

My approach is relaxed and happy when meeting a client and building that connection over similar interests or new interests. Creating a safe, positive and supportive environment for my client and their family, ensures that they feel heard and able to talk, play, create and explore new skills and opportunities.

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

I would want to be an elephant. I think they are the most beautiful, biggest creatures with a caring nature. They are strong, independent with super hearing!! But also, very playful and cheeky.

What is the most interesting place you have been?

The most interesting place at this stage is Bali. I visited the monkey forest where I got a ‘monkey selfie’ and seen many more. The most beautiful part was seeing the waterfalls while white water rafting in the Telaga Waja River which was an amazing experience.

What is your go-to karaoke song?

My ultimate go to karaoke songs, are from ABBA. I am a Mamma Mia girl so Dancing Queen would be my first choice.
